Austin Clarke presents part of of his memoirs 'Growing Up Stupid Under the Union Jack', which chronicles the story of his childhood in Barbados. A previous novel, "The Polished Hoe" won a Giller prize in 2002.
Interesting that the Son of God relates the 'Jack' to the USA and not England. I remember when he said that the USA is the 'House that Jack built'.
As we know, Malcolm X was also part of the Nation of Islam, murdered by those involved in NOI.
However, Austin Clarke speaks from his heart to those that have the ears to hear.
He lives in Canada and not Barbados and that speaks for itself.
